$9.99 btl / $113.89 cs
- save $15
The picturesque hill town of Orvieto in
Umbria is known for its cathedral, its local cuisine and a white
wine with the same name. Here, local iconic producer Barbi has
chosen a single vineyard on unique volcanic and limestone soil for
their top wine "Arche". Chardonnay is included among local varieties
giving this wine depth, nuance and complexity while retaining its
native charm. Notes of vanilla and pear with a mineral finish that
gives it a crispness that is perfect for a warm summer night. Reg:

Marchetti ‘09 Later Harvest Verdicchio
$15.99 btl / $182.29 cs
"Maurizio Marchetti is one of the lucky
ones. He lives in a castello (small castle) on the Adriatic coast
and, free from monetary concerns, makes small quantities of the
wines he loves. He produces a mere 12 barrels of later harvest
Verdicchio, an amazingly complex white. Full-bodied and lush, this
is not a sweet wine. It is just a hair off-dry, with ripe fruit
flavors of pear and melon, a touch of honey balanced by citrus fruit
that retains beautiful acidity. Esquin orders this rarity early in
the year, directly from the importer to ensure an adequate supply."

Antonio Sanguineti ‘08 Chianti
$10.99 btl / $125.29 cs
From our favorite "Maestro", Antonio
Sanguineti, comes this wonderfully delicious Chianti, made in a
friendly, approachable style that is rich, powerful, yet great for
food. Antonio lived as a boy in Chianti near Siena, and despite his
famous prowess with Brunello and Super Tuscan IGT wines, has always
considered Chianti the wine closest to his heart. Here, he partners
with his close friend Luca Pattaro of Il Ciliegio to make a great
everyday wine that is perfect with all foods Italian, seafood al
pomodoro, and even barbecue.

Dama ‘07 Montepulciano d’Abruzzo
$12.99 btl / $159.49 cs
Aromas highlighted by black cherry,
currants, vanilla and licorice. Plenty of rich body with red fruit,
earth, substantial structure and tannin. Dry and mellow with
harmonious structure. A great value!
Giuseppe Lonardi ‘06 Privilegia
$39.99 btl / $455.89 cs
"450
cases are produced annually of the Privilegia, a blend of 50-50%
Cabernet Franc and Corvina (dried/raisinated). This is a rich, spicy
wine, like an Amarone but less unctuous. The complex nose of dark
fruits is slightly smoky but the full palate is awash with dense
cherry/berry flavors, white pepper and baking spices. The finish
lasts and the harmonious structure, backed by smooth tannins, should
allow the wine to age another 7-10 years. The Privilegia was voted
the Wine of the Year by the Associazione Italiana Sommeliers
(Italian Sommelier Association)." Arnie Millan
